Buddhism vs Hinduism

Think of some of the key similarities and differences between Hinduism and Buddhism. In what ways are they closely related and drastically different?

  1. Buddhists and Hindus both believe in the cycle of rebirth through reincarnation. Also, both religions originated in and around India. However, Buddhists do not feel that priests are needed, while Hindus do. Hindus also worship many idols in order to relate to the one true god of Brahman. Buddhists, on the other hand, have no main god and primarily focus on spiritual meditation and enlightenment to reach nirvana.

  2. Buddhists and Hindus both are believers in samsara. They each believe in the practice of dharma to attain better karma. While the Hindu people believe in the worshipping of a higher power, the Buddhists try to attain peace within themselves and with nature/their surroundings.
